Former Chairman of Lanka Mineral Sands, Udeni Dasanayake, Granted Bail

The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered the release on bail of Udeni Dasanayake, former Chairman of Lanka Mineral Sands, who was arrested by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption over corruption allegations.

Following his arrest, the suspect was produced before court by CIABOC officers on 25 September 2026. The case was taken up before Colombo Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama.

Having considered the submissions made by both parties, the Magistrate ordered that the suspect be released on two personal sureties of Rs. 2 million each and imposed a travel ban preventing him from leaving the country.

The Magistrate also strongly warned the suspect to refrain from exerting any pressure on other witnesses connected with the case.

Further proceedings in the case have been postponed until 20 November.
