Chinese Ambassador Calls for Stronger Global Cooperation

Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong has called for greater international cooperation to build a community with a shared future for mankind.
He made the remarks at the launch of a publication on the governance philosophy, political thought and modernisation policies of Chinese President Xi Jinping. The event, chaired by Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, also featured a forum on "Sri Lanka and China Advancing Together on the Path to Modernisation."
The Ambassador said Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era serves as the guiding framework for China's modernisation and national rejuvenation. He highlighted its emphasis on people-centred development, deeper reforms, rule of law, high-quality economic growth, technological self-reliance, rural revitalisation, environmental protection and national security.
Qi also referred to China's global initiatives, including the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilisation Initiative, stating that they promote international cooperation, shared development and improved global governance.
He said China would continue advancing reforms, expanding economic openness, promoting innovation and contributing to global peace and sustainable development under President Xi's leadership.
