Tamil Nadu CM Joseph Vijay announced the Annapoorani Super Six scheme, providing financial support for three LPG cylinders annually to 1.3 crore households earning below Rs 2.5 lakh, starting Pongal 2027. The BJP criticizes this as a broken election promise since the manifesto promised six free cylinders to all households. 

Rising LPG costs amid Gulf war tensions prompted the scheme, costing Rs 4,000 crore yearly. Opposition accuses the government of reducing both cylinder count and beneficiary eligibility, urging fulfilment of original promises.
