Sri Lanka Muslim Congress leader Rauff Hakeem stated that cooperation from the Attorney General’s Department in ongoing Easter Sunday investigations appears inadequate.

Speaking in Parliament on April 9, he expressed concern that this raised suspicions of possible external pressure on the government.

He said he had full confidence in senior investigators Shani Abeysekara and Ravi Seneviratne and urged the government to provide them full institutional support.

He also questioned the absence of legal officers during key court proceedings, including bail hearings related to Suresh Sale.

Hakeem further raised concerns regarding objections reportedly made by the Attorney General’s Department in calling certain witnesses, including individuals linked to the Easter attack network.

He stressed that withholding testimony from key witnesses could hinder full disclosure of the truth and urged that all relevant witnesses be properly examined.
