10-May-2026.
Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leader Udaya Gammanpila has stated that his recent remarks regarding the death of Ranga Rajapaksa were based on an official letter from the Director General of Health Services.
Speaking to the media after giving a statement at Kuliyapitiya Police Station on May 9, he said he was questioned by police following his comments that the deceased’s wife had expressed suspicion regarding the death.
He clarified that he had only quoted official documents and not made independent claims.
He said the document appointing the post-mortem inquiry board clearly stated that the wife had raised suspicion regarding the death.
He further criticised what he called political influence over police processes and stated that he explained the content of the official documents during questioning.
He added that multiple concerns had been raised regarding the post-mortem report and said he remains prepared to cooperate with investigations.
He also stated that he would not be intimidated or discouraged by political pressure.
