Tamil Nadu ready to assist Sri Lanka; says Chief Minister M. K. Stalin

Tamil Nadu is ready to assist Sri Lanka, which has been devastated by Cyclone Titva, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin said.

So far, 153 people have died and 191 are missing. Many areas remain submerged.

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has declared a state of emergency. Rescue operations are ongoing.

A flight carrying 21 tonnes of relief materials and 80 NDRF personnel has already arrived in Sri Lanka. NDRF and Navy personnel are engaged in relief operations with helicopter support.

In his statement, the Chief Minister said:

Tamil Nadu is ready to stand with the people of Sri Lanka affected by Cyclone Titva. We express deep condolences to the families of those who died.

A team of officials is being appointed to coordinate with the central government to send food and medical supplies. Assistance will continue to ensure the people can rebuild their lives.
