Sri Lankans in Israel Safe: Embassy
03-Mar-2026.
Sri Lankans working in Israel remain unharmed and have been accommodated in safe locations, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Israel, Nimal Bandara, announced.
He made the statement in response to concerns regarding Sri Lankans employed in Israel amid Iran’s ongoing retaliatory attacks on the country.
Elaborating further, the Ambassador said that following joint attacks carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran, Iran has launched retaliatory strikes.
Despite the escalating situation, no Sri Lankan in Israel has been affected thus far. All Sri Lankan nationals are currently staying in secure locations.
He added that relatives of Sri Lankans in Israel have been continuously inquiring about their safety. “There is no issue concerning Sri Lankans at present. Should any adverse situation arise, we will inform the public accordingly. Therefore, there is no need for unnecessary panic among family members in Sri Lanka. Ninety-nine percent of Sri Lankans in Israel remain safe,” he said.
Although a state of emergency has been declared in Israel, the Sri Lankan Embassy continues to operate as usual. No incidents involving Sri Lankans have been reported, he confirmed.
