Russia to take 70,000 Indian skilled workers this year

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar briefed a parliamentary committee on India-Russia relations, emphasizing expanding trade, investment, and energy ties while maintaining diverse supply sources. Russia agreed to employ 70,000 Indian workers in construction and logistics. 

Jaishankar highlighted India's diplomatic efforts to mediate the Ukraine conflict, including meetings with leaders from Russia, Ukraine, and the UN. He also updated on securing the release of Indians serving in the Russian military, with 140 discharged and ongoing talks about 55 others. The focus remained on strengthening bilateral ties and peace initiatives.
