Rs. 25,000 Disaster Relief Payment Yet to Reach Affected Communities: Opposition Claims

MP Harshan Rajakaruna of the United People’s Power criticized that the Rs. 25,000 assistance for cleaning damaged houses has not fully reached the affected people. 

He said the distribution is limited to media publicity and called for political interference to stop, allowing officials to act independently.

He also highlighted the need for an inquiry into the lack of preventive measures taken for Cyclone, pointing out governance gaps without an auditor overseeing the country’s disaster-related finances.
