President Reviews Resettlement Plans for Landslide-Affected Families

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake inquired into resettlement arrangements for families who lost their homes due to landslides in the Angumbura and Kankotuwa areas.
The President visited the relief center established at Sri Sudarshanarama Temple in Welgala, Poojapitiya, Kandy, on 1 January and met affected residents.
Following the recent disaster, six houses were completely destroyed and 15 partially damaged, while residents of 30 houses were evacuated from a high-risk zone. A total of 189 individuals from 47 families were initially sheltered at the relief center, with 23 persons from seven families still residing there.
The President engaged in discussions with the displaced families and inquired into their welfare and resettlement needs.
