President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is scheduled to undertake an official visit to the Maldives on July 28, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The visit comes in response to an invitation extended by Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu. President Dissanayake is expected to remain in the Maldives until the 30th of this month.

During this official trip, the two heads of state will engage in bilateral discussions and are expected to sign several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening mutual cooperation.

This visit holds special significance as Sri Lanka and the Maldives commemorate 60 years of formal diplomatic relations this year.

President Dissanayake will be accompanied by Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath, along with several senior government officials.
