President Anura Issues Directives on Nuwara Eliya Road and Bridge Restoration

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake instructed officials to consider reports from the National Building Research Organization when constructing certain roads and bridges in Nuwara Eliya.

A discussion regarding road damages in the district and urgent actions required was held on Dec 8 at the Nuwara Eliya District Secretariat with the President and senior officials.

They reviewed damages from Cyclone, timelines for repairs, and roads that cannot be reopened with minor fixes. The President asked officials to submit a report on such roads.

He further instructed quick allocation of funds to repair damaged roads, drains and retaining walls, and to complete all reconstruction work by the end of this year.
