Pakistan, Laos, Eritrea Voice Support for Sri Lanka

Pakistan, Laos, and Eritrea urged the Council to act impartially and fairly, declaring their support for Sri Lanka’s domestic processes.

They noted positively that despite rejecting Resolution 57/1 at the previous session, Sri Lanka had invited High Commissioner Volker Türk to visit the country.

They criticized the OHCHR accountability project on Sri Lanka for being advanced without the concerned country’s consent, and pointed out that, at a time when the UN is facing a funding crisis, these resources could be better utilized elsewhere.
