Osman Hadi will live in our hearts: Yunus

Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on Dec 20 paid tribute to Osman Hadi at his funeral, saying the radical leader would continue to live in the hearts of the people and vowing to follow the ideals he stood for.

Addressing thousands of mourners, Yunus said people across Bangladesh and among the diaspora were waiting to hear about Hadi. 

“Dear Osman Hadi, we have not come here to say goodbye. You live within our hearts. As long as Bangladesh exists, you will remain an inseparable part of this nation,” he said.

Yunus recalled Hadi’s approach to politics, saying he showed how to connect with people with humility, express views without causing distress, and run campaigns with grace. 

“We accept this lesson and wish to implement it. We want to elevate our political culture to a level where Hadi’s example remains vividly alive,” he said.
