Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa met with Australia’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Matthew Duckworth, and asked for assistance to help restore affected livelihoods.

The meeting took place on Dec 8 at the Opposition Leader’s office in Colombo.

Both sides exchanged views on Sri Lanka’s current situation. Premadasa briefed the High Commissioner on the destruction caused by the cyclone: collapsed businesses, disrupted day-to-day life, and extensive damage to infrastructure.

He requested Australia’s support to rebuild infrastructure and help people return to normal life.

Premadasa also expressed his gratitude to the Australian government and people, on behalf of all Sri Lankans, for their assistance and relief efforts during this difficult period.
