Namal Named as Fourth Defendant in Krish Deal Case

Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa has been named as the fourth defendant in the case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court concerning the Krish transaction.

The motion filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption was taken up for consideration on 28 September 2026. Colombo Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama accordingly granted permission to the Commission to name Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa as a defendant in the case.

Investigations have revealed that Rs. 70 million had allegedly been paid as a bribe to Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa through Janaki Sriwardena, former director of the company, in order to expedite the process of granting land situated at Transworks Square in Fort to Krish Transworks Private Limited for a joint development project.

Accordingly, Janaki Sriwardena was arrested and remanded until the 6th.

Namal Rajapaksa, who is alleged to have received the bribe money in the said case, has been named as a defendant. In addition, officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption have already recorded a statement from Namal Rajapaksa, who was arrested in connection with the Airbus transaction and is currently being held on remand at Welikada Prison.
