MP Siritharan Demands Foreign Investigation for Justice
13-Sep-2025.
Satha, alias Suppayya Ponnaiya, who lived with Douglas Devananda for 18 years, openly stated that Nimalarajan, Arputhan, and Nicholas (who served as temporary assistant government head in Jaffna) were killed by the LTTE.
He also stated that many other murders were committed by the LTTE. He asked whether investigations would be conducted, noting that the Nimalarajan murder has not been properly investigated, and international agencies state that truths have been covered up.
He further explained: During 2012–2015, Rs. 69 million from the Asian Development Bank and Rs. 8 million through Mannar Municipal Council were allocated for a solid waste management project in Mannar District.
The project progressed until 2015, but now it has been blocked by a public corporation, and litigation is ongoing, affecting waste management in Mannar District. All related documents will be submitted to Parliament in the next session.
Regarding women’s issues in Sri Lanka, particularly female-headed households after the 2009 war in the Northern and Eastern provinces, there have been significant social and economic challenges. Pregnant women do not receive proper nutrition.
Women who surrendered to the military during the war have not yet been returned to their families, and missing persons’ families continue to struggle for justice.
The government has declared that it is not ready for external investigations, despite recommendations from reconciliation and inquiry committees not being implemented. Continuous external investigations are necessary to achieve justice.
Satha also alleged that Lt. Isai Priya and many women were killed by the military, and the government continues to protect the military rather than investigate. Without external inquiries, justice, peace, and reconciliation will never be assured.
