Madras High Court orders Rs 25 lakh interim compensation in custodial death case

In the case of Ajit Kumar's custodial death in Tamil Nadu, the Madras High Court has intervened, ordering the state government to increase compensation for the victim's family to ₹25 lakh.
This is an increase from the ₹7.5 lakh previously announced by the government.
The court also directed that a parcel of land and a government job be provided to Ajit Kumar's brother.
The case, which involves allegations of Ajit Kumar being beaten to death by police after being detained without an FIR in a robbery case, has been transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The court noted the state's cooperation with the investigation and has adjourned the hearing for 28 days.
