Landslide Risk Remains High as Authorities Urge Caution

Due to a week of heavy rain, the soil in hill country areas remains saturated. With the northeast monsoon starting, landslide risks remain. People staying in shelters are advised not to return home yet.

Red-level landslide warnings continue in 44 DS divisions across Kandy, Kegalle, Kurunegala, and Matale. Additional warnings continue for dozens of DS divisions across multiple districts. The public is urged to remain in safe locations until inspections are complete.

NBRO officers will inspect damaged houses, including those with cracks, and recommend action to relevant agencies.
