Landslide Alerts Issued for 14 Administrative Divisions in Badulla

Due to heavy rainfall from the northeastern monsoon, 238 families (806 people) were evacuated from landslide-risk areas in the Badulla District.

Fourteen out of fifteen divisional areas have been affected. Multiple areas, including Kalugala Mountain, Sooranathota, Uva Paranagama, Ridimaliyadda, Meegahakivula, Hali-Ela and Ella saw residents relocated to safe sites.

Nationally, landslide warnings remain active in 37 divisional areas. The NBRO has surveyed 494 high-risk locations.
