Karur stampede case: Madras High Court denies anticipatory bail to top Vijay aides

The Madras High Court on October 3 denied anticipatory bail to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leaders Bussy Anand, general secretary, and CTR Nirmal Kumar, joint secretary, in connection with the Karur stampede case.
The stampede, which occurred during a campaign by party chief Vijay, resulted in the deaths of 41 people. Anand and Nirmal Kumar had approached the court seeking anticipatory bail following a First Information Report (FIR) filed against them on September 29.
The FIR also led to the arrest of TVK district secretary Mathiyazhagan, while another party functionary, Masi Pounraj, was taken into custody on September 28.
