16-Sep-2025.
When former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was leaving his official residence, a large number of people had gathered in the area. When asked about this by former President Maithripala Sirisena, he said, “I do not bring people along.”
He made this remark while responding to a journalist’s question.
Journalist: “When former President Mahinda Rajapaksa left the official residence at Wijerama Road, Colombo, on September 11, we saw a large number of people gathered in the area. Did no one come to see you?”
Maithripala Sirisena: “No, no. I do not bring people along.”
Journalist: “So, are people being organized to attend?”
Maithripala Sirisena: “I do not bring people along. I respect the government’s bill presented to revoke the privileges of former Presidents,” said Maithripala Sirisena.
