Foreign Minister Appeals to Diplomats for Recognition of Sri Lanka’s Progress

Foreign Minister, Labour and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath urged foreign diplomats to recognize Sri Lanka’s progress, particularly on human rights, and to engage in constructive dialogue.
Meeting diplomats in Colombo on September 2, ahead of the upcoming 60th UN Human Rights Council session, the Minister explained the country’s current situation and recent developments on human rights.
He highlighted government initiatives to strengthen accountability, the repeal of the Prevention of Terrorism Act, and the introduction of new legislation. He requested international representatives to acknowledge Sri Lanka’s achievements and cooperate in positive discussions.
