Chinese Aircraft Delivers Humanitarian Aid Valued at 400 Million Rupees

A Chinese aircraft carrying 84 tons of humanitarian relief items valued at about 400 million rupees arrived on Dec 8 to assist people affected by the disaster.
Cyclone caused severe floods and landslides, killing hundreds and displacing hundreds of thousands. Various nations, NGOs, and private groups have been providing aid.
China has already donated one million dollars in financial aid and relief goods worth 10 million RMB, and the Chinese Red Cross previously provided 100,000 dollars to the Sri Lanka Red Cross.
The Boeing 747 cargo aircraft from Shanghai carried life jackets, tents, blankets and mattresses for severely affected displaced communities.
It was received by Minister of Ports and Aviation Anura Karunathilaka, Deputy Defence Minister Aruna Jayasekara, and Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong.
