The Cabinet has approved a proposal to deploy Sri Lankan workers in temporary employment within Israel’s regulated labour market.

Accordingly, approval was granted at the Cabinet meeting held on 5 February 2020 to sign an agreement between the Governments of Sri Lanka and Israel in this regard.

Recruitment procedures have periodically been agreed upon for employment in sectors such as domestic work, agriculture, construction, hotels, home care and cleaning services, manufacturing, and small food outlets.

Under these agreements, the Israeli Government has officially expressed its willingness to recruit Sri Lankan workers for positions in Israel’s commercial and service sectors.

In this context, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism informed the Cabinet of the steps taken to sign under the “G” employment framework of the agreement already entered into by both parties, enabling the deployment of Sri Lankan workers in these sectors. The Cabinet approved the procedures undertaken.
