Assam man attempts to kidnap Class 9 boy in Tamil Nadu, arrested

A man from Assam was beaten by villagers in Tamil Nadu’s Dindigul and handed over to the police after he allegedly attempted to kidnap a child in Palani.

Police said the incident took place when a Class 9 student was on his way to school. The accused, identified as Kanu Sarkar from Assam, reportedly followed the child, caught his hand, and tried to drag him away.

When the boy cried for help, locals rushed to the spot, thrashed the man, and later handed him over to the police. 

The Adivaram Police have launched an investigation into the incident and retrieved CCTV footage showing Sarkar assaulting the child. In the video, the man is seen dragging the child along, as he tries to escape.
