Asian Disaster Preparedness Center Grants 300,000 Dollars

The Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) has donated 300,000 dollars to support disaster-affected people and emphasized to the Foreign Minister the need to strengthen the national disaster preparedness and early warning systems.

Cyclone Ditwah’s floods and landslides have caused massive casualties and losses. Aid continues to flow from multiple international partners.

ADPC’s Executive Director Aslam Perwaiz handed over the donation to Foreign, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath.

The minister expressed Sri Lanka’s gratitude both for the financial support and for the technical assistance provided through coordination with the National Disaster Management Centre.

In response, Aslam Perwaiz pledged ADPC’s continued cooperation in Sri Lanka’s recovery efforts and its readiness to provide ongoing technical support. Both sides also discussed improving national preparedness and early warning systems.
