103 children orphaned by Cyclone Ditwah – Minister Savithri Paulraj

Women and Child Affairs Minister Saroj Savithri Paulraj said 103 children lost one or both parents due to Cyclone Ditwah.

Speaking at an event in Badulla on February 6, she said a special program will be implemented to care for the affected children. Legal procedures will be followed for guardianship.

She also highlighted rising teenage pregnancies, increased online violence, and high levels of parental abuse in Badulla District, noting that the highest number of child crimes in Sri Lanka occurs in the Welikanda area of Polonnaruwa.
