Wipro tightens flexible work policy

Wipro has begun the new year by tightening the way its hybrid work model operates, asking employees to spend a minimum amount of time inside the office on days they report to the workplace.

The move, communicated through internal emails, a change from the relatively flexible approach the IT major had followed until now, even after making office attendance mandatory for part of the week.

According to a report by The Economic Times, Wipro has now made it compulsory for employees to spend at least six hours in the office on each work-from-office day. This rule applies to the existing mandate of reporting to the office three days a week, which the company had already enforced earlier. What is new, however, is the clear definition of how long employees must remain on campus between their “in” and “out” punches.

The updated hybrid work policy came into effect from January 1, and Wipro’s HR team has reportedly informed employees about the change via email. In the communication, the company reiterated that hybrid working continues to be central to its long-term workplace strategy, even as it brings in tighter checks to ensure consistency across teams.
