Starlink kicks off India tests

It looks like Elon Musk is finally beaming his next big idea to India, quite literally. 

SpaceX’s satellite internet venture, Starlink, has begun crucial security tests in the country, marking one of the final steps before launching its commercial broadband services. 

If all goes smoothly and regulators move quickly, Musk could be selling high-speed satellite internet to Indian households as early as 2026.

An official told The Economic Times that Starlink has requested 600 gigabits per second of bandwidth over India using its Gen 1 satellite constellation, and that the spectrum has been provisionally allocated for security compliance demonstrations.
