A study reveals that people with Type 2 diabetes face higher risks of severe dengue, including complications like dengue haemorrhagic fever and shock syndrome, due to impaired immunity, endothelial, and platelet dysfunction.

Experts advise vigilant monitoring during dengue season, emphasizing early medical evaluation, hydration, and close blood sugar control to reduce severity. Warning signs such as rapid pulse or severe pain require urgent care. Those with poorly controlled diabetes, obesity, or kidney and heart disease are especially vulnerable, highlighting the importance of proper glycemic management.
