Amazon lays off 16,000 employees

Amazon this week confirmed a sweeping new round of layoffs, cutting around 16,000 jobs globally, including in India. While the majority of layoffs have taken place in the US, in India hundreds of employees have been impacted in many teams in cities like Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad.

Following the announcement, the company has begun notifying impacted employees through official emails. The latest cuts mark the FAANG company’s second major round of job reductions in just three months and come on top of the roughly 14,000 roles it had already eliminated by the end of 2025.

As emails detailing severance packages, transition periods and continued benefits land in the inboxes of impacted Amazon employees.
