Saudi Arabia says geological studies at Medina’s Jabal Sayid project identified about 110 million tonnes of ore containing rare earth minerals and promising uranium concentrations. The discovery supports the kingdom’s Vision 2030 strategy to diversify beyond oil through mining, domestic uranium extraction and civilian nuclear power.

It follows a US-Saudi agreement for a long-term, multibillion-dollar civilian nuclear partnership, amid regional tensions involving Iran, Israel, the United States and Yemen’s Houthis.
