Indictments Filed Against Former Navy Commander and Yoshitha Rajapaksa

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has filed indictments before the Colombo High Court against former Navy Commander Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda and Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, in connection with corruption charges.
According to the indictment, Admiral Karannagoda, while serving as Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy between September 1, 2006 and June 8, 2007, allegedly facilitated Yoshitha Rajapaksa's unlawful admission to a training programme at the United Kingdom's Royal Naval College, causing financial loss to the State.
Yoshitha Rajapaksa has also been indicted for allegedly deriving unlawful benefits through the said arrangement.
The indictment has been filed under eight separate charges against the two accused.
