Five, Including Anutha Janadith Samarakoon Bandara, Remanded Over Rs. 20 Million Theft from Chinese National

The Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court has ordered the remand of five suspects, including Anutha Janadith Samarakoon Bandara, son of former State Minister Shantha Bandara, until July 27 in connection with the alleged theft of Rs. 20 million from a Chinese national.
The order was issued by Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena when the suspects were produced before court on July 23.
The suspects were arrested by Kollupitiya Police on July 21 over the alleged robbery involving the Chinese national.
Investigations have identified Anutha Janadith Samarakoon Bandara as the principal suspect. Police informed court that he is also allegedly involved in cryptocurrency-related financial fraud and is believed to have directed the entire operation from a location approximately 50 metres away from the crime scene.
Following his arrest, the court had earlier granted permission to detain the suspect for 24 hours for further questioning. After considering the progress of the investigation, the Magistrate ordered the remand of all five suspects until July 27.
