Congress appoints Manickam Tagore as Tamil Nadu unit chief

The Congress appointed Lok Sabha MP B. Manickam Tagore as Tamil Nadu unit president, replacing K Selvaperunthagai, to strengthen party strategy ahead of key political challenges. 

Announced by AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, Tagore is also the Congress whip and oversees party affairs in Andhra Pradesh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. 

Born in 1975, his political career began with NSUI and Indian Youth Congress roles. His leadership signals a strategic shift amid concerns over Congress's junior alliance status in Tamil Nadu.
