Supreme Court rules anti-terror financing amendment is constitutional

Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne informed Parliament that the Supreme Court has determined that none of the provisions in the Amendment Bill to the Convention on the Suppression of Terrorist Financing are inconsistent with the Constitution.
He said the determination was made under Article 121(1) of the Constitution.
Accordingly, the Supreme Court ruled that the Bill or any of its provisions are not in conflict with any constitutional provision and may be passed by a simple majority in Parliament.
