Carney to name Canada's next governor general on Tuesday

The prime minister is set to name Canada’s next governor general on May 5, CBC News has learned. 

Multiple sources said Mark Carney’s selection is expected to be fully bilingual in English and French. Two sources said the appointee is a woman. 

Carney will put forward his recommendation to King Charles who approves the appointment.
