Minister K. D. Lal Gantha’s new residence was constructed using proceeds from the sale of his ancestral properties, Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Vijith Herath stated. He emphasized that no property was acquired through improper means and that anyone with doubts may pursue legal action.
Speaking at the weekly media briefing announcing Cabinet decisions, Minister Herath noted that Lal Gantha’s house was funded both through the sale of ancestral property in Anuradhapura belonging to his family and property in Kandy owned by his wife. The house was not built using misuse of power or ministerial privileges.
He added that if anyone harbours doubts or objections, they may petition the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption and initiate legal proceedings. Similar to ordinary citizens, some members of the party also possess ancestral property obtained through hard work, not through illicit gains. Minister Herath affirmed, “I responsibly declare that none of our ministers have acquired property through improper means.”
