A specialised workshop on Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) for critically ill patients with severe kidney conditions was recently held at the National Hospital in Colombo.
Health and Media Ministry Secretary Dr. Anil Jasinghe emphasised that enhancing the capacity and expertise of intensive care unit (ICU) teams is a national priority.
The programme was conducted under a long-term collaboration involving Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health, the College of Anaesthesiologists and Intensivists, SingHealth, and Singapore General Hospital.
The initiative aims to strengthen frontline ICU professionals, with doctors, nephrologists, and emergency care staff receiving lectures and hands-on training.
Dr. Jasinghe noted that ICU care remains a global challenge and that Sri Lanka is taking steps to introduce advanced medical technologies and specialised treatments for complex cases.
Speaking on behalf of the Singapore team, Dr. Ho Wei Kian stated that their goal is to improve treatment quality and save lives through international collaboration.
