Vijay's Jana Nayagan eyes a Republic Day release
17-Jan-2026.
The makers of Jana Nayagan were referred back to the Madras High Court by the Supreme Court on Thursday after the producers contested the stay on the film's censor certificate.
The case is now scheduled to be heard around January 20, and if the verdict goes in favour of KVN Productions, the team is likely to target a Republic Day release, reported Sacnilk.
According to various media reports, Vijay's final film before he fully commits to his political career is expected to arrive with a grand box office splash, and few release windows are more lucrative than a national holiday.
It remains to be seen whether the makers opt for Jan 19 release on Republic Day itself or choose the preceding Friday to capitalise on an extended holiday weekend. As of now, all depends on the hearing on the 20th, provided the verdict is in favour of the makers and both parties do not go for further appeal in court.
