G. L. Peiris to Appear Before Commission to Investigate Bribery and Corruption
21-Oct-2026.
Former Minister G. L. Peiris has said that he will appear before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) in response to its summons, adding that he has no objection to doing so.
He made these remarks while speaking at a press conference organised by the Joint Opposition for the People at the political office of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe in Colombo on October 19.
Peiris said he had received a notice directing him to appear before the Commission on October 20.
He explained that the Commission had summoned him to obtain certain information about official discussions held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after he assumed office as Foreign Minister following the end of the war in 2009. The information was reportedly relevant to an inquiry being conducted by the Commission.
Accordingly, he said he would appear before the Commission this morning to provide details of the discussions held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He reiterated that he had no objection to cooperating with the inquiry.
