Passengers and a flight attendant had to subdue a man on a local flight after he reportedly tried to open a cockpit door while in a state of psychological distress, according to Quebec provincial police.
The plane was flying on the afternoon of October 7 on Quebec's Lower North Shore from Blanc-Sablon to Sept-Îles with a scheduled stop in La Romaine.
Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesperson Sgt. Marc Tessier said when the plane made its stop there, two passengers boarded the aircraft, including the individual in question. About 10 minutes later, Tessier says, the crisis occurred.
The man allegedly attempted to open the cockpit door and also caused some damage to the bathroom door. Four passengers and the flight attendant managed to restrain him.
The pilot turned the plane around to return to La Romaine, where police arrested the individual.
The man, who's in his 30s, was taken to hospital to receive medical care.
No one was injured, but Tessier said several of the other passengers were in a state of shock.
There were 13 people aboard the plane at the time of the incident, along with two pilots and a flight attendant.
