London teen dies in drowning at Ipperwash Beach

Police say an 18-year-old from London has died in a drowning at Ipperwash Beach in the Municipality of Lambton Shores.

At about 4 p.m. on Jun 30, emergency crews responded to reports of two swimmers in distress in Lake Huron near East Parkway Drive. 

A 12-year-old from London was safely brought to shore by members of the public and transported to hospital as a precaution.

A second person was found unresponsive and transported to hospital. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, an 18-year-old from London was pronounced dead at hospital. That person has not been identified.
