Fire destroys Salisbury's lone grocery store

The only grocery store in Salisbury, N.B., has been destroyed by fire.

Mayor Robert Campbell said he began receiving phone calls around 6:30 a.m. on September 28 about a fire at Walker's Your Independent Grocer. He said the Main Street business employed more than 40 people.

"Pretty devastating right now for our community," he said.

Fire departments from Salisbury, Petitcodiac, Moncton, Dieppe, Riverview, Havelock and Elgin responded to the fire.
