24-Apr-2026.
A new framework titled the “US-Sri Lanka Trade Task Force” has been launched under the US Chamber of Commerce, with the objective of strengthening bilateral trade relations between Sri Lanka and the United States and promoting investment.
The IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings 2026 were held last week at the World Bank headquarters in Washington.
Representing Sri Lanka, a delegation led by Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe held extensive discussions with international investors and business leaders.
The delegation participated in an investor forum organised by JP Morgan, investor meetings jointly hosted by Jefferies Emerging Markets and HSBC, and a meeting arranged by the US Chamber of Commerce with US government officials and private sector representatives. Discussions focused on Sri Lanka’s economic situation, future growth prospects, and broader developments.
Governor Weerasinghe also briefed US businesses and investors on Sri Lanka’s macroeconomic progress.
Following these engagements, the US-Sri Lanka Trade Task Force was formally launched to enhance bilateral trade cooperation and encourage investment between the two countries.
