Representatives of the Tamil National People's Front (TNPF) and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) have agreed on the need for coordinated action to address the national issues of the Tamil community.

A TNPF delegation led by MP Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam met VCK leader and Tamil Nadu MLA Thol. Thirumavalavan during an official visit to Tamil Nadu.

The discussions reviewed issues raised during the delegation's earlier meeting with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph C. Vijay.

The delegation reiterated that a durable political solution to the Tamil national question should recognise Tamils as a distinct people with the right to self-determination within a federal framework. They also called on India to play a stronger political role in advancing such a solution.

The meeting also covered demands for an international investigation into alleged genocide and a permanent solution for Sri Lankan Tamil refugees living in Tamil Nadu.
