Medical specialist Dr. Samal Sanjeewa has reportedly resigned from all positions held within the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), including his role as organiser for the Ratmalana electorate.

Party sources indicate that his decision follows a serious disagreement with party leader Sajith Premadasa. Dr. Sanjeewa, who also serves as President of the Medical Professionals’ Association for Civil Rights, had been actively involved in exposing corruption and malpractice in the health sector.

The resignation letter, sent to party leadership, states that his departure takes immediate effect. Internal party disagreements over policy decisions and political strategy are believed to have contributed to the breakdown.
