Minister Vijitha Herath Meets UN Special Representative

Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath met Dr Najat Maalla M’jid, the United Nations Special Representative on Violence Against Children, to discuss the need for a comprehensive and coordinated multi-sectoral approach to ending violence against children.

The UN representative is in Sri Lanka to participate in a South Asian ministerial conference focused on eliminating violence against children. Discussions also highlighted the importance of economic development, effective social programmes, legal reforms and policy restructuring in creating a safer environment for children.
