Priyanka Kamalakar, a 29-year-old nurse from Karnataka, was allegedly strangled to death by her husband Basavaraj Waddar following months of dowry harassment, body shaming, and domestic abuse. 

Married in December 2024, Priyanka faced repeated insults about her weight and failure to conceive, pressured to provide money and gold. Her family alleges she suffered miscarriages due to physical abuse. 

Basavaraj and three family members were arrested, facing charges of murder and dowry harassment, sparking outrage in their village.
